Galapagos is Ecuador’s insular region located 1,000 km off Ecuador’s coast. It is made up of 13 islands and more than 80 islets of volcanic formation. Since it is a World Sanctuary of Biodiversity because it possesses the most unique flora and fauna in the world, in 1978 it was designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. This region has two seasons: one is hot (from December to May) with an average temperature between 25ºC and 27ºC; the other is cold (from June to November) with an average temperature of 20ºC to 25ºC. |
